The Effect of Turmeric Derivatives on Pain-Pressure Threshold

The purpose of this study is to determine if differences in three forms of turmeric will slow down pain signals sent to the brain. Pain signals are sent to the brain by messengers called neurotransmitters. These forms of turmeric (essential oil, CO2 extract, and hydrosol) may change the way these neurotransmitters work. We want to determine whether topical forms of turmeric decrease neurotransmitters when applying pressure to the skin. Findings from this study may help us reduce the amount of pain signals sent in people with chronic pain in future studies.
