Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a serious condition caused by blood clots blocking blood flow to the lungs and placing strain on the heart. Some patients are treated with a standard procedure called mechanical thrombectomy to remove these clots. This research study aims to better understand the structure of blood clots removed during thrombectomy and how clot characteristics relate to heart function and recovery after PE. The study does not involve any experimental treatments or additional procedures beyond standard medical care. Information learned from this study may help improve understanding and future care of patients with pulmonary embolism.
