Teaching with Primary Sources

This project, "Teaching with Primary Sources: Theoretical Cognitive Principles Applied in the Classroom," aims to enhance the critical thinking skills of history teacher candidates in Richmond and Columbia Counties, ultimately impacting their future students. Led by Dr. Juan Walker of the Department of Teaching and Leading, the project will focus on teaching candidates how to evaluate historical patterns, chronology, sequencing, and the influence of frames of reference on historical periods, incorporating five key theoretical principles.

Project Goal

This proposed project aims to deepen history teacher candidates' critical thinking skills, and subsequently those of their students, for more intellectual undertaking in a globalized society.

Teaching teacher candidates how to evaluate patterns, chronology, sequencing (including cause and effect), and identifying historical periods are influenced by frames of reference.
