The Georgia Cancer Center is pleased to announce its third annual grant competition for junior investigators conducting cancer-related research.

An American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant was awarded to the Georgia Cancer Center (Dr. John K. Cowell, PI) along with partners from Georgia Southern University and the University of Georgia, effective January 2015. Including additional funds contributed by the Georgia Cancer Center, this grant provides up to three annual $40,000 awards to junior investigators. This seed funding is designed to support the generation of preliminary results that are critical for nationally awarded cancer research funding.

Purpose

This 1-year grant opportunity is to enable early-stage investigators to obtain preliminary data for cancer research projects that will become competitive for national research grants.

Eligibility

All junior investigators at »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ, Georgia Southern University, or the University of Georgia who are within six years of their initial independent faculty appointment, who are not currently funded by an independent, national, peer-reviewed research grant, and who are interested in cancer research are eligible to apply.

All areas of cancer research are eligible for this seed funding opportunity, including but not limited to: basic, translational, clinical, prevention/control, and psychosocial/behavioral cancer research.
