Bio

Dr. Stan Dodson, a graphic artist, illustrator, and researcher, has taught visual art since 2008. He's an award-winning teacher, Fine Arts Department Chair, college adjunct professor, and GAEA President.

Teaching Interests

Dr. Dodson's teaching and research interests focus on the intersection of diverse media and effective learning. Dr. Dodson is particularly interested in traditional art forms, including drawing, painting, graphic design, 3D art, and ceramics. Additionally, Dr. Dodson supports methodology and pedagogy courses for educators pursuing foundational and initial K-12 certification. Dr. Dodson's work also includes graduate studies, helping educators who seek advanced degrees in research, educational leadership, and lifelong learning pursuits.

Research Interests

With a background in the arts, journalism, and education, Dr. Dodson's qualitative research focuses on multi-modality and the integration of cross-curricular approaches to enhance learning significantly. Dr. Dodson sees content literacy as a vital bridge that connects innovation with effective practices for literacy development.
Dr. Dodson critically analyzes and evaluates various forms of content, including written texts, images, videos, and multimedia. More importantly, Dr. Dodson works to develop the skills needed to interpret this information, derive meaning from it, and make informed judgments. Dr. Dodson's aim is to share a passion for arts-based research through qualitative inquiry and multi-modal studies. Courses of interest include but are not limited to, content literacy, advanced Inquiry, educational studies, ​qualitative research, and the humanities.
