Overview

The Medical College of Georgia welcomes visiting medical students through the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program. Application Process

Visiting students must apply through the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO®) platform. MCG participates in VSLO to provide a standardized application and review process for visiting clinical rotations.

Step 1: Submit a VSLO Application

Applicants should:

  • Apply through the VSLO platform during the published application window.
  • Upload all prerequisite documentation listed within VSLO.
  • Ensure all application materials are complete before submission.

Incomplete applications may delay review.

Step 2: Application Review

Applications are reviewed by:

  • Clerkship leadership and program coordinators
  • Institutional approval processes as required

Selection is competitive and based on availability, eligibility, and program requirements.

Step 3: Acceptance Notification

Students will receive their application status through VSLO. Possible outcomes include:

Conditional Acceptance
Conditional acceptance indicates that the department has approved your participation and that your rotation is reserved pending completion of institutional onboarding and credentialing requirements. Final clearance to rotate is granted only after all required steps are completed.
Waitlist
Applicants may be placed on a waitlist depending on rotation availability and program capacity. Once conditionally accepted, students must complete additional onboarding steps before beginning the rotation. Failure to complete the required onboarding by established deadlines may result in cancellation of the rotation.

After Acceptance: What Happens Next

Congratulations! Once accepted, there are several important steps to complete before your rotation begins.

Monitor Your Email

After acceptance, students will receive communication from:

  • Clerkship or program coordinators
  • Credentialing staff
  • Clinical site onboarding teams

Email communication is the primary method used to prepare you for your rotation. We strongly encourage students to check their email regularly and respond promptly to requests.
