Neurology Residency Program

The Neurology Residency Program at the Medical College of Georgia and Wellstar MCG Health System aims to shape the careers of passionate young neurologists.

The Neurology Residency Program at the Medical College of Georgia at »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ is a categorical four-year program designed to provide a comprehensive education in neurology. With a current complement of 24 adult neurology residents and immediate plans for further expansion, our program offers robust training opportunities that encompass diverse neurological disorders.

Residents rotate through Wellstar-Medical College of Georgia Medical Center, a 520-bed tertiary referral center designated as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level 1 Trauma Center serving a large catchment area that spans multiple states. This setting exposes trainees to a wide variety of neurological pathologies in a diverse patient population, enhancing clinical skills, and diagnostic acumen. Residents also gain proficiency with outpatient neurology by rotating through a wide variety of subspecialty clinics.

Our graduates pursue a range of fellowship subspecialties, including stroke, neurocritical care, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, pain management, neurophysiology, sleep medicine, among others, reflecting the program's commitment to fostering expertise across the full spectrum of neurology.

We recruit six adult neurology residents annually.

Our residents rotate at three sites:

  • The Medical College of Georgia, at the »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ Medical Center & Clinics
  • Charlie Norwood VA Hospital (which is physically linked to the »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ Medical Center via an indoor sky bridge)
  • The Medical College of Georgia, Children’s Hospital of Georgia (CHOG)

Our Neurology Faculty

Our program is often described as being infectious because of its collegial atmosphere as many of our attending physicians have trained at our facility at some point in their careers and have returned here to practice.
