Dr. Robert V. Higgins serves as Interim Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology
at the »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓÆµ and is Professor of Gynecologic Oncology at the Medical College of Georgia. A board-certified specialist in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology,
Dr. Higgins has dedicated his career to advancing women’s healthcare, medical education,
and academic leadership.
Dr. Higgins earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the East Carolina University School of Medicine. He completed his residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Charlotte Memorial
Hospital and fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Kentucky.
Throughout his career, Dr. Higgins has held numerous leadership roles in academic
medicine, including serving as Residency Program Director, Director of Gynecologic
Oncology, and Vice Chair of Education within the Department of OB/GYN. He is deeply
committed to resident and medical student education and has been recognized for excellence
in teaching and mentorship.
In addition to his educational leadership, Dr. Higgins maintains an active clinical
and scholarly focus in gynecologic oncology, contributing to research, patient care,
and quality improvement initiatives that advance outcomes for women with gynecologic
cancers.
