What Is an MS in Epidemiology?

An epidemiology master’s program teaches you to identify and understand the drivers of public health through the lens of data and analysis.

What Will I Learn?

The online MS in Epidemiology curriculum includes courses spanning infectious and chronic diseases, biostatistics, health informatics, data analysis and public policy analysis, preparing you with the knowledge to conduct and apply meaningful research in an area of public health that matters to you most.

What Can You Do with an MS in Epidemiology?

As health care technology advances, scientists are discovering new and emerging diseases that we need epidemiologic research to understand. 

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects the demand for epidemiologists to increase by 16 percent between 2024 and 2034 — much faster than the average for all occupations in the U.S. The median annual salary for epidemiologists was $83,980 as of May 2024, according to the BLS.

The online MS in Epidemiology is a 36-credit hour degree program that trains students who would like to increase their applied epidemiology knowledge, build research methodology and develop analytical skill sets.

Online MS in Epidemiology »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓÆµ Requirements

To be considered for admission to the online MS in Epidemiology program, the following materials must be submitted with your application:

    • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended showing that you’ve earned a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the baccalaureate level is required, calculated across all graduate coursework.
    • Three formal letters of recommendation.
    • Optional submission of official GRE exam score.
    • Proof of Lawful Presence: In accordance with Board of Regents Policy 4.1.6, all applicants for admission to »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓÆµ are required to provide validation of lawful presence in the United States.
      • Acceptance to »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓÆµ is conditional until lawful presence is verified.
      • ALL applicants who are U.S. citizens must submit documentation that verifies their lawful presence in the United States at the time of application to admissions@augusta.edu.
      • Please review the verification process for international transcripts and the English proficiency requirement.
