Critical Thinking

About Our Faculty Learning Community

We are the Teaching and Assessment of Critical Thinking Faculty Learning Community, a group of faculty from across disciplines who have been collaborating since January 2023. Our mission is to support colleagues in embedding critical thinking into their teaching through practical, adaptable strategies.

Over the past two years, we have:

  • Delivered hands-on workshops for faculty, focusing on ready-to-use activities grounded in proven critical thinking frameworks.
  • Created discipline-specific templates for tools such as Bloom’s Taxonomy, Six Thinking Hats, the Five Whys, and Gallery Walk to make integration straightforward and relevant.
  • Partnered with the Center for Instructional Innovation to make our resources widely accessible.
  • Team members: Brian Armstrong, Ashley Christman, Nicholas Colgrove, Catherine Jauregui (facilitator), Regina Messer, Rafeal Pacheco, Jeane Silva, and Patricia Watford.

How We Can Help

We understand that every course, discipline, and teaching style is unique. That’s why our resources are designed to be flexible and easy to adapt. We can help you:

  • Select a critical thinking framework that aligns with your course goals.
  • Adapt our templates to your discipline and classroom context.
  • Co-create assignments or activities that are engaging, inclusive, and assessable.
  • Embed critical thinking into D2L and other course platforms.

Work With Us

We welcome collaboration with faculty across all disciplines. Whether you want to brainstorm a single activity, co-develop a workshop, or explore innovative assessment ideas, we’re here to partner with you.
