Animal Facility Access: Contractor

The following steps must be successfully completed for each contractor before they will be authorized to enter any animal facility at »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ:

Step 1

The contractor's office personnel must request access for all contractors by submitting an Animal Facility Access Request. Email addresses are required for each individual to be cleared. The »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ employee responsible for the contractor must be listed as PI/ Supervisor.

All contractors must complete and return the to ANIMALOHP@augusta.edu. This tool determines if contractors must be evaluated by employee health.

Step 3

All contractors must complete Vivarium Hazards Training. This training requires about 30 minutes.

Step 4

Laboratory Animal Services training is required, once all prior steps (1-3) are completed and clearance is granted by Occupational Health/ Employee Health. The LAS Training Coordinator will contact individuals to schedule this training. The »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ Department requesting access will be notified of completed contractor clearance.

NOTE: The entire process often takes 2 weeks or more to complete. Prompt responses to email from LASACCESS@augusta.edu and ANIMALOHP@augusta.edu will ensure the most expedited clearance.
Important: Entry to some areas may require a Laboratory Animal Services escort.
