Veterans Studying Abroad

Veterans may be able to use Veteran Affairs (VA) Educational Benefits to pay for study abroad courses, but certain restrictions apply.

The VA Educational Benefits will cover a course that is required for completion of a degree plan. These courses will be listed in your degree plan in JagTrax. However, these courses can be paid for by the VA if a course substitution is approved. To complete a course substitution, visit the academic department of your major or Academic Advising (if you currently have less than 60 credit hours). Turn in the completed Course Substitution Request Form (which can be found on our FAQ page) to the Registrar's office and inform your VA School Certifying Official. VA will only pay tuition and mandatory fees associated with the course – they will not pay for any travel related costs.

For more information, visit Military and Veteran Services.
